Western Conference Finals: Memphis Grizzlies @ San Antonio Spurs Game 2
Game 2: Memphis Grizzlies @ San Antonio Spurs Tues. May 21, 2013 9 p.m. ETÂ
The first game of the Western Conference Finals is officially in the books with the San Antonio Spurs absolutely crushing the visiting Memphis Grizzlies at the AT&T Center. San Antonio was considered the better all-around team in Las Vegas odds coming into this series between the best in the West, but Memphis has been in the underdog role throughout the entire postseason and have flourished playing in that role.
Coming into Game 2 of the West Finals, the Grizzlies will be facing an uphill battle once again against one of the best teams in the conference. The Spurs have been tested often in the postseason thus far with the Golden State Warriors almost taking them the distance in the second round, but the Grizzlies are another beast altogether with the ability to play lockdown defense on a nightly basis.
Although Memphis can get the job done offensively, the Grizzlies a force to be reckoned with defensive with Marc Gasol, Mike Conley and Tony Allen leading the way. These three players alone have been able to lead the charge defensively while Zach Randolph shoulders the load offensively on most nights.
With the Grizzlies already having their backs up against the wall after dropping Game 1 in convincing fashion, Memphis will attempt to bounce back in Game 2 with a win on the road before heading back to FedEx Forum where this team excels.
As of right now, the Spurs are favored to come out on top yet against before taking to the road. San Antonio has been given the -5 1/2 point spread in Las Vegas odds after a dominating performance in Game 1 that resulted in a 22-point blowout in front of their home crowd at the AT&T Center.
Although the Spurs will be tough to beat at home, I believe the Grizzlies will strike back with a vengeance and at least make this game closer than anticipated.
