NBA Playoffs: San Antonio Spurs @ Golden State Warriors Game 3
Game 3: San Antonio Spurs @ Golden State Warriors Fri. May 10, 2013 10:30 p.m. ET
As without a doubt the most surprising team in the NBA playoffs thus far, the Golden State Warriors have been able to pull off the seemingly impossible in the first two rounds of the postseason.
In the first round, the Warriors took down the third seed Denver Nuggets with relative ease. Stephen Curry was absolutely on fire right out of the gate and up-and-coming head coach Mark Jackson rode the hot streak to a series win in six games over arguably the best home team in the NBA this season.
After pulling off the upset over the Nuggets in the first round, the Warriors punched their ticket to the second round and the first real challenge against an experience and successful opponent. The San Antonio Spurs stood in the way of Curry and company, but this team on the rise was up for the challenge giving Tim Duncan and company all they could handle in two overtime periods in Game 1.
There’s no question the experience of the Spurs helped them pull out the win in Game 1, but the same couldn’t be said for Game 2 with the Warriors crushing the Spurs on their home floor at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
With the Warriors defying the Las Vegas odds on a nightly basis, the oddsmakers have finally deciding to give respect where respect is due. Golden State is favored to get their second win of their second round playoff series against the Spurs on Friday night with a -3 point spread.
Although the Spurs are a formidable opponent and should never be underestimated under any circumstances, San Antonio will fall for a second consecutive game and may be facing a commanding two-game deficit while set to play one more game at the Oracle Arena before heading back to San Antonio.
