NBA Announces All-NBA 1st And 2nd Rookie Teams
The 2012-13 NBA season is officially over for the majority of the league’s best rookies with many of their teams unable to make the NBA playoffs.
Recently, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers was named the NBA’s Rookie of the Year without much competition from any of the first-year players in the league. Lillard dominanted the competition amongst rookie candidates and also led the way in the voting for the All-NBA Rookie First Team.
Here’s how the voting transpired for this season’s top rookies:
All NBA Rookie First Team
Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers
Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards
Anthony Davis, New Orleans Hornets
Dion Waiters, Cleveland Cavaliers
Harrison Barnes, Golden State Warriors
All NBA Rookie Second Team
Andre Drummond, Detroit Pistons
Jonas Valanciunas, Toronto Raptors
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Charlotte Bobcats
Kyle Singler, Detroit Pistons
Tyler Zeller, Cleveland Cavaliers
Out of this rookie class, only a handful will be truly successful in the league and will help sway things one way or another in Las Vegas odds on a nightly basis.
It’s hard to argue that Lillard, Barnes and Davis aren’t the most talented of this rookie class, but there’s definitely a few others that may make an impact like Drummond, Valanciunas and Beal that might make an impact in the years to come.
It remains to be seen which rookies from this season that will truly emerge as dominant players in this league, but there may be a few gems in the class.
A few solid rookies weren’t named to these two teams with Chris Copeland of the New York Knicks and Maurice Harkless of the Orlando Magic also notable rookies that weren’t able to make the cut. Pablo Prigioni (Knicks), Brian Roberts (Hornets), Alexey Shved (Minnesota Timberwolves) also received votes, but were unable to make the list.
