Chris Paul Remains Undecided On Future With Clippers

After punching their ticket to the NBA playoffs last season and making it the second round before losing to the San Antonio Spurs, the Los Angeles Clippers made it official that the team that was once considered the one of the worst in the league was now a force to be reckoned with.

Coming into the 2012-13 NBA season, the Clippers were favored in Las Vegas odds to do some damage in the Western Conference and did just that. Superstar point guard Chris Paul led the Clippers to the best regular-season record in franchise history while also winning the Pacific Division title for the first time.

Paul’s presence in the backcourt and the team’s willingness to surround him with talent has been a recipe for success, but the team was unable to capitalize in the postseason for the second year in a row.

Ironically enough, despite the improvements made by the team’s front office and the Clippers’ dominance in the regular season, Los Angeles may have missed out on an opportunity to lock up Paul to a five-year deal. Paul will become an unrestricted free agent in July and free to sign with any team,

Although Paul has started a winning tradition in Los Angeles with the Clippers, the team has still been unable to live up to expectations in the postseason leading to speculation that he may leave the team for a better opportunity at winning an NBA title elsewhere.

The only thing certain about Paul’s immediate future is the fact that it is uncertain. Paul has been reluctant to let his intentions be known in terms of what he plans to do in free agency leading to speculation that he may very well be on his way out of Los Angeles.

The consensus as of right now is that Paul will be back and will sign a five-year deal to do so, but it remains to be seen if he’s truly sold on the Clippers.
