NBA Playoffs: Golden State Warriors @ Denver Nuggets Game 5
Game 5: Golden State Warriors @ Denver Nuggets Tues. April 30, 2013 8 p.m. ET
One of the most intriguing playoff series in the first round was the Golden State Warriors going head-to-head against the Denver Nuggets. With Ty Lawson and company proving their worth during the regular season clinching the third seed in the Western Conference and Stephen Curry beginning to emerge as a legitimate superstar in the league, this series was bound to competitive and potentially set to go the full seven games.
Both teams play with similar styles with a run-and-gun mentality. Unfortunately for the Nuggets, the Warriors have been the better of the two playoff teams thus far with Curry leading Golden State to three straight wins after falling in Game 1.
Although the Nuggets were favored to come out on top in this series in Las Vegas odds, Golden State has turned the tables by taking the commanding 3-1 lead heading into Game 5 back at the Pepsi Center.
With the Nuggets one of the best teams in the NBA this season at home, Denver will try to get back into this series in front of their fans at one of the toughest places to play in the league.
As of right now, Golden State is receiving no credit for dominating the Nuggets over the past three games coming in as underdogs in Game 5. The Nuggets is currently -7 1/2 point favorites to get the win and force a Game 6 back in the Bay Area.
The Nuggets will be facing elimination in this game and will attempt to avoid being knocked out of the first round yet again in the George Karl era. Although the Warriors will put up a fight, I believe Denver will come out on top at home will covering the spread.
