The Los Angeles Clippers are struggling. Chris Paul and company have found it difficult to put it together over the past week or so with six losses in the last 10 games. Although Los Angeles is arguably one of the top five teams in the league this season, the team built to win and win now have hit a bump in the road with the NBA playoffs right around the corner.
Before the 2012-13 NBA season began, the Clippers were a hot pick in Las Vegas in terms of winning it all this season. The defending NBA champion Miami Heat were without a doubt the favorites to win it all, but the Clippers were a safe bet to come out of the Western Conference if able to get passed the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.
Regardless of the current state of the team and the recent struggles, the Clippers will still be a force to be reckoned with in the postseason. The seeding in the West is still up for grabs from the top to the bottom with the oddsmakers in Las Vegas still uncertain of the outcome in the conference, but Los Angeles will attempt to take a step in the right direction with a win over the lowly Phoenix Suns on Wednesday at the Staples Center.
Without Steve Nash leading the way in the backcourt, the Suns haven’t ben able to get back to form as a legitimate playoff contender in the West this season and as a result are on pace to face dead last.
At this point in time, the Clippers are heavily favored to bounce back after losing the last three games in a row. Although Los Angeles is by far the superior team in comparison, Phoenix will put up a fight and likely make a game of it forcing the Clippers to earn this win.
Prediction: Phoenix Suns +16.5
Chris Paul will also have the prop bet of the amount of assists he’ll finish with against the Suns. Paul’s Over/Under for assists is 10.
