NBA Betting: New Orleans Hornets @ Golden State Warriors
New Orleans Hornets @ Golden State Warriors Weds. April 3, 2013 10:30 p.m. ET
The New Orleans Hornets will head into one of the most hostile environments in the NBA on Wednesday night going up against the up-and-coming Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena.
Unfortunately for the Hornets, New Orleans hasn’t exactly been favored in Las Vegas odds this season due to an inability to play consistently at home or on the road. New Orleans were thought to start to turn the corner this season with the addition of rookie Anthony Davis and a healthy Eric Gordon, but it has been more of the same for the Hornets this season with the team set to end the season with another losing effort and outside looking in on the NBA playoffs.
As for the Warriors, the complete opposite is the case with rising stars David Lee and Stephen Curry leading the way in the Bay Area taking most oddsmakers in Las Vegas by surprise. Although many doubted this team’s chances of being successful with former player Mark Jackson calling the shots from the sidelines, Curry and company have vastly exceeded expectations this season and will head into the playoffs as the sixth seed or higher.
The Hornets only real threat in this matchup will be point guard Greivis Vasquez. The team has received a considerable boost from Vasquez this season and his play will be paramount in Wednesday showdown that may ultimately help New Orleans, but it’s safe to say Golden State is by far the better squad in all aspects of the game.
At this point in time, the Warriors have been favored to come out on top in this matchup of these two young teams. Golden State has been given an eight point edge which the team will likely cover in front of their fans in the Bay Area.
Prediction: Golden State Warriors -8
There’s also an Over/Under for this game in terms of how many assists and points Curry will have combined at 32 1/2. Curry exceeding this point/assist total is a safe bet.
