NBA Betting: Dallas Mavericks @ Denver Nuggets
Dallas Mavericks @ Denver Nuggets Thurs. April 4, 2013 9 p.m. ET
The Dallas Mavericks are coming off a devastating loss to the Los Angeles Lakers that may have ended their hopes of clinching the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Dirk Nowitzki and company were unable to capitalize on an opportunity to make some ground in the West playoff picture with a win over the Lakers and as a result will likely be on the outside looking in on the postseason.
On Thursday night, the Mavs will face another tough task in the form of the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center. As arguably the best team in the league on their home floor, the Nuggets have dominated the competition in Denver with only three losses in the Mile High City this season.
With that being said, the chances of Nowitzki’s squad coming into the Pepsi Center and coming out with a win is slim to none. The Nuggets will likely wipe the floor with the Mavs in an effort to continue holding onto the third seed in the West ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers.
Although an improved team, the Nuggets were considered to be a real threat in the West according to the oddsmakers in Las Vegas before the season began. Denver received a boost from the addition of Andre Igoudala, but were thought to be a force against the best of the best in the West.
So with the Nuggets cruising as of late and as dominant as any team in the league on their home floor, a blowout against the Mavs is a likely scenario as Denver should cover the 7 point spread with relative ease on Thursday night even without star point guard Ty Lawson in the lineup due to a foot injury.
A player prop bet to watch out for on Thursday will be Kenneth Faried’s point and rebound total. This bet will be hot in Las Vegas with Faried set to dominant the weak frontcourt of Dallas.
Prediction: Kenneth Faried Total Points and Rebounds Over 21 1/2
